Studies have found that mental health disproportionately affects women more than men. According to a study, depression affect younger women more adversely than other demographic groups. This has been repeatedly found to be true for other conditions as well. Since depression is associated with social determinants of health this is a significant epidemiological finding that was in the press couple of years ago. The Marmot Review’s Six Policy Objectives on the social determinants of health such as:
Give every child the best start in life
Enable all children, young people and adults to maximize their capabilities and have control over their lives
Create fair employment and good work for all
Ensure a healthy standard of living for all
Create and develop healthy and sustainable places and communities
Strengthen the role and impact of ill-health prevention
